The four-cylinder Highlander gets 20/25 mpg city/highway, which is below average for the class. The V6 model gets 19/25. Both engines come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional with the V6. Reviewers note that the Highlander has a smooth ride. The Highlander feels responsive during cornering, test drivers add, and they say it has precise steering.
The 2016 Toyota Highlander seats up to eight and comes standard with a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Automotive journalists praise the 2016 Toyota Highlander for its premium cabin materials, quiet ride and user-friendly dashboard controls. The Highlander has roomy first- and second-row seats, critics report. The third-row seats aren't big enough to comfortably fit adults, reviewers say, but kids will have enough space. Test drivers love the numerous, large storage bins throughout the Highlander's cabin, and overall cargo capacity is decent for the class.
